Name: Jen
Shreve
Age: 23
Occupation: Currently unemployed,
but will work as a patient coordinator at a dental
office starting in May.
Who are you sponsors: No one, (actually the Dept of Unemployment right
now! ha)
Beer or booze: Bud Light, Stella
Artois, and Gordon Birsch are my favs
Worst injury/worst fall: 7th grade
ski team, in the gates racing, hooked a tip and
ripped a ligament off a bone in my knee (tibial
spine fracture is the proper name) Dad said to
buck up and walk out to the truck which was in
the back parking lot of Sierra At Tahoe. Next day
I was in surgery. He felt bad.
Hardest trick to learn: Any trick
where my board or skis leave the ground!
What got you started in the sport:
Dad got me into skiing and friends and my brother
got me into wakeboarding. Actually Ryan and I started
wakeboarding the same summer and didn't even know
that we were both getting into it.
Other interests/sports: Do beer
olympics count? I enjoy mountain biking, skiing,
wakeboarding and a little backcountry skiing
and hiking. Typical Tahoe stuff.
Who inspires you for riding?
For skiing my inspiration is my dad because he
was my ski coach from age 3 to current and taught
me to race. Dad was on the U.S. ski
team back in his day -1867, and knows
whats going on, as far as skiing. For wakeboarding
my inspiration is Al Marchiniak because he kindly
pushes and teaches me what I want to know. Also,
Ryan Shreve, because obviously he rocked at the
sport and can master drinking a beer, hanging
off the back of the boat one handed and yelling
at me how to ride and correct myself, while whaling
the other hand in the air.
Who do you admire? Dave Ward
because I love him to death and have so much
fun with him wakeboarding, skiing, drinking and
consider him family (my parents sure would love
if he became family). I admire my brother. He
was my best friend and my other half. No one
else could finish every sentence and laugh at
my every joke having the same sense of humor.
He taught me to play a little guitar, rock climb,
wakeboard, drop chutes, and love and appreciate
friends and family as a gift from God.
Favorite movie: There are a
few, the top would be "Traffic", "Legends of
the Fall", "Old School","Blow".
Education: Still
working on my AA and should finish my last class
this fall. I took a few years off school after Ryan
passed away, and just want to finish a goal I started
6 years ago.
Where do you ride? I ski at resorts
all around Tahoe, but right now my favorite is Homewood.
I just re-discovered it this year. You can't beat
the views and the $13.50 midweek ticket price! I
wakeboard in Folsom Lake, Sac river and Fallen Leaf
Lake. On occasion I've been known to houseboat
in shasta and New Melones.
If you wakeboard what boat do you use:
Anything that floats!
Do you have any children? nope
Craziest thing you have ever eaten:
Goat intestines and "Vinaguan" which is curdeled
cow blood with spices added. All eaten in the Phillipines.
Where have you traveled to ride: Traveled
to Switzerland in May 2005 to ski, and Shasta Lake,
and New Melones to ride.
Any props to give out: I give props
to Abe Neitling who is one of Ryan's best friends
from Tahoe, for winning Gold medal on the Fire Fighter
Invitational- Ryan Shreve Memorial race, March 15,
2006. Props to Surf and Skate team riders for taking
over the role of brothers and being there for me
in every aspect of my life.
Tatoos, or Piercings?: Don't really care for
either, but if you are hot, it doesn't matter!
Accomplishments in the sport: Nothing
worth mentioning
Single or hitched: Single and
loving it baby!!!!!
